GILDING
In the last 5 years, gilding has become very popular not only in silver jewelry, but also in jewelry made of other precious metals. Today, very often gold-plated silver jewelry is so similar to gold jewelry that it can only be distinguished by being stamped on the product. However, it should be remembered that the gilding coating, like any other, undergoes a gradual abrasion process. It manifests itself in the loss of the golden color, which makes the jewelery become brighter and brighter, down to silver. The thickness of the applied gold coating may vary from 0.5 to 2.5 µm depending on the specific manufacturer, therefore, depending on the method and frequency of use, it should remain on the surface of the jewelery from several months to over a year. Gilding can be renewed at a goldsmith who will gild our jewelery anew, thanks to which it will look like new again
